Mixed Martial Arts
Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a full-contact combat sport that allows striking and grappling, both standing and on the ground, using techniques from various combat sports and martial arts. The first documented use of the term mixed martial arts was in a review of UFC 1 by television critic Howard Rosenberg in 1993.The combination of mixing 2 or more disciplines of Martial Arts. At DNA MMA you have the ability to train ONE or all disciplines being, Muay Thai, BJJ & Wrestling.
A martial art developed in Thailand in which blows may be struck with the fists, elbows, knees, and shins. Similar to Kickboxing, where the competitors have gloves, but can also strike with there legs.
BJJ is founded on the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger, heavier opponent by using technique, leverage, and most notably, taking the fight to the ground, and then applying joint locks and chokeholds to defeat the opponent. BJJ training can be used for sport grappling tournaments and in self-defense situations.Sparring (commonly referred to as “rolling” within the BJJ community) and live drilling play a major role in training and the practitioner’s development. BJJ is considered a martial art, a sport, a method for promoting physical fitness and building character, and a way of life
